Jennifer Lopez's makeup is always on point. She is not afraid of color and she has a flair for the dramatic. This is a makeup artist's dream. I was awe struck by her whole look at the Globes, head to toe she was PERFECT!
Feeling inspired, I wanted to do a "everyday" version of her makeup, while it is still heavier than most wear their makeup, it is an amazing date night look! The point of makeup is to play and have fun, remember it washes off ladies!
I started with a clean face on my model Stephanie. Using Laura Mercier Primer (Sephora) all of the face, applying with IT Cosmetics Airbrush Foundation Brush 101 (ULTA). Next apply Urban Decay's Eye Primer in color Eden (Sephora or ULTA) all over the eyelid, making sure it is completely rubbed in and blended.
Nextstep is doing the eyeshandow. I used three different palettes to achieve this look: Lorac PRO Palette 1, Lorac PRO Palette 2 and Kat Von D Monarch Palette.
Entire eyelid- Buff.
Cut crease- Vanish with a little of Deadhead.
From crease down to top of eyelashes- Killing Jar.
Along the top eyelashes- Sable and Garnet, blending upwards.
Bottom lash line- Deadhead fairly thick bc this will be the outer most color, building darker as you go in towards the lash line.
Next color to fade on bottom lash line- Cocoa
Last color closest to the bottom lash line- Black
Tear duct highlight- Rose
(Lorac brands available at ULTA, Kat Von D available at Sephora)
We will do the rest of the eyes after we contour.
I have blogged about using NYX Mineral Foundation Sticks before, but will go over what I did for this look.
The darkest color is Number 9 and is applied along the hair line, sides of the nose, under the cheek bone, along the jaw line, down the neck and on the collar bones.
Accenting the Number 9 is Number 7 on the neck, collar bone and on the forehead.
Number 2 was used under cheek bones, on the chin, down the nose and cupids bow.
I used MAC Pro Longwear Concealer- NC15 under the eyes done in a triangle shape.
To blend, I used the IT Cosmetics Number 101 brush… Starting with the darkest colors and then working my way to the lighter colors. I save the concealer for last, using a smaller version of the IT Cosmetics brush.
Set all of it with BYE BYE Pores, by IT Cosmetics. After all is set, I used Too Faced, Beach Bunny Bronzer (Sephora & ULTA), to add a little more of that J.Lo glow. I highlighted with a Sephora Brand Highlighter in the color Star Dust, I applied this above the cheekbones.
I filled in Stephanie's brows with Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown.
To finish off her eyes and for that extra pop, I applied Laura Mercier Creme Eyeliner in Noir in the waterline. Applying cream/gel liner in the waterline tends to last longer than a pencil would. Using an angled eyeliner brush will make this process easier.
A light coat of Miss Manga Loreal Mascara on top and bottom lashes. Next apply the false eyelashes. I used Red Cherry Lashes in Style Demi Whispie. I use DUO glue in Dark.
Last stop are lips. For the lip liner I used MAC's Stripdown as a base. Then applied a mixture of NYX in Shy Timide, Too Faced Lip Injection in Never Enough Nude and Too Faced Melted in Nude. Going back over the lipstick with the lip liner again.
Thanks all for reading, I hope you use this tutorial to create your own fabulous J.Lo look for a special night out!!
