I recently had seen several reviews on foundation sticks. I was very intrigued by the idea of using a stick to apply not only my foundation, but my contour. After reading around on different brands I settled on NYX Mineral Stick Foundation. I purchased them at ULTA during there BOGO sale. Each stick is $9.99, so buying during the BOGO sale allowed me to get the second one a half price. I purchased 4 different colors.
The first color I bought was the Porcelain (#2), this color was the lightest one that I got. I am using this as my highlighter/concealer color. The second color was Medium Beige (#5), I am using this as my actual foundation color, matching my skin very nicely. The third color is Caramel (#9), which the darkest color in the collection. I am using the Caramel as my bronzer/contour color. The final color I bought was Cool Tan (#7), which is an awesome cool tone, not too grey. I will use this color on my clients that need it. During the next sale at ULTA I will go back and purchase the rest of the collection.
To apply the foundation you simply roll it on and draw it directly onto your face in the correct places. To blend the product I recommend using a dense foundation brush and using small circular motions, starting with the lightest areas first. If you don't start with the lightest area first it can look muddied. You can also use a Beauty Blender sponge, I would suggest running the sponge under warm water and squeezing dry in a wash cloth. The dampness of the sponge will make for a smoother finish. Try both ways and decide which you prefer!
Please reference photo for the application.
My overal review of the NYX Mineral Foundation Stick:
PROS: Great coverage
Very dewy finish
Good color options
CONS: Can feel "cakey"
Doesn't last as long as liquid foundation
I love using this product for pageant competition and for a night out! I do not recommend for everyday wear, it can feel heavy for a daily look.
Let me know your thoughts and if you like the product! Send in pics with your NYX results! Below is the link to purchase the product online, but I would recommend going into the store to color match. Thanks beauties!
